Being a Caring Parent to Your Inner Child

From Jane Rowan , About.com Guide

Soothing Your Inner Child

Getting in touch with our inner children is not always easy. At first it might seem that they just want to cry and cry. This is natural. The parts of us that were split off at a young age had to go away for good reasons—abuse, fear, neglect, misunderstanding. These young parts were not allowed to express their overwhelming feelings, so they took the feelings away with them.

When we invite these lost inner children back into our lives, we have to be ready for them to express a lot of distress. But what do we do then?

How Do We Soothe the Inner Child?

First of all, it is a process and it won’t get done all at once. You need to learn how to parent your own particular inner children. They will teach you what they need as time goes on. You will have to be just as patient as if you had adopted a real child with a troubled background.

Second, you need to take those feelings extremely seriously. “Soothing” the child does not mean saying, “There, there, dear. It’s OK. Stop crying.” You may have heard voices like that in your past, but your job is to be a different kind of parent, one who really listens to the child’s feelings. The first part of soothing is to hear the feelings. The child might not be able to tell you why she or he feels sad or angry or scared. Your job is to pay attention to the feelings.

If you can, find a safe a quiet place where you can literally sit down and listen. Let the feelings emerge. Accept all of them, even though it is painful. If you can’t bear all of it at once, tell the child that you will listen for ten minutes, or five, or two minutes. Then promise the child to make another time later to listen some more.

As the feelings emerge, focus on loving the child who is entrusting you with these valuable and vulnerable emotions. Tell the child that you are proud of her or him for coming forth. Sometimes you may feel completely overwhelmed and inside the feelings, like your are being the child. That’s OK. If you can manage to stay in that place, try to do so. See if you can detect any shift where you might feel a little more like a grownup holding the child.

Here’s Where the Soothing Comes In
  • Value all those difficult feelings and validate them.
  • Let your body express the love you have for this child by holding a pillow or stuffed animal, rocking, humming, stroking, doing anything you’d do to comfort an actual child.
  • Trust your instincts on this. Let the child tell you what feels good to her or him.
  • Don’t let any critical voices tell you that it’s silly to rock and hum a lullaby. It’s not silly—it is valuable practice in loving yourself.
You will need to do this practice over and over as your inner child gradually learns to trust you.

Over time you will learn to be the caring parent that this child never had. You will share your future with the wonderful, free, and loving spirit that is your inner child.

How to Tell If Someone Is Lying

By Derren Brown
Classic signs of lying include bringing the hand up to the face – for example, to stroke the chin or touching the nose. The speaker makes these movements almost as if he wants to 'hide' the words coming out of his mouth.

You should also look out for eye movements. Generally, if people are thinking of visual information to answer a question, their eyes will move up: this is how they retrieve mental pictures. They do this unconsciously, but they will also tend to do it reliably. Once you know that, you can look for the instance when they don't look up in the same way, or when they look up but perhaps to the other side, or when they maintain eye contact with you when they would normally do otherwise.

This last is an interesting point. Most people imagine that we maintain eye contact when we tell the truth and break it when we lie. Not so. The majority of people will maintain eye contact when lying, because they don't need to retrieve information from their minds and, therefore, don't need to move their eyes. At another level, they are eager to appear sincere, and so consciously decide to keep looking at you.

But the point is not that such-and-such behaviour means a lie. The secret is to watch people closely and, keeping your wits about you, follow their mental processes in your own mind. Look for their patterns and see where they fall down. Watch for an answer that breaks the rules – the odd one out will be the lie. Now you know how this works, go out and try it with friends and family. Challenging them to lie convincingly, watch for eye movements and patterns. The more you practise this, the better you'll get. If you really want to drive yourself insane, start noticing your own patterns and eye movements. Just don't try chewing food at the same time!

Three Prerequisites to Succeed in Meditation

By Dr. Joshua David Stone and Gloria Excelsias
The purpose of meditation is to help us realize union with God and our God Self (also called: Monad or Mighty I AM Presence or Eternal Self). The purpose of meditation is to reveal our True Self.

We are one with God – always have been, always will be, and are so right now. We are our God Self, which is our true identity – always have been, always will be, and are so right now.

However, what stands between us and the realization of this grand truth is our lower self desires, thoughts, emotions and consciousness.
This is why a prerequisite for true meditation and union with God is to transcend these lower self energies. We transcend these lower energies by, what is called in Eastern philosophy, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Karma Yoga.
Jnana Yoga is “knowledge of the absolute”. So Jnana Yoga has to do with understanding and mental discipline.
Bhakti Yoga is about lovingly devoting your consciousness and self to God. So Bhakti Yoga engages the emotional body and deals with emotional discipline.
Karma Yoga is called the “discipline of action” and has to do with using physical action as a tool to attain Spiritual growth.
The Integrated Ascended Master realizes that only a disciplined mind, calmed emotional body and actively serving physical body is truly fit for meditation and contemplation.
Ponder on this!

Life is About Letting, Rather Than Getting

http://gaiavibrance.com
Meet the Real You!
Most people do not have an authentic sense of who they really are. They are not really certain where they have come from, or where they are going. And, most importantly, they do not understand why they are here on this planet Earth, and what their purpose is for being here.

There are ways for moving from an ego-based world-view to a more enjoyable and holistic perspective. There is nothing more exciting, or important, than learning who we really are and why we are here.

How to Live the Life of Your Dreams
Everyone has dreams, hopes, and desires for their life. Everyone wants to feel happy, fulfilled and loved. But many people do not know how to live the life of their dreams. There is a difference between living life from the conditioned ego-mind and living life from your authentic self.

Your conditioned surface ego-mind may tell you that you need many things to be happy, an impressive plaque on the office door, a private yacht, a "trophy" husband or wife, and so on. Your authentic self knows what TRULY makes you happy.

Often people who seem to have everything -- fame, success, beauty, a big bank account, exotic travels, and so on -- are STILL very unhappy and we read about their drug addictions, failed relationships, alcohol fueled excesses and so on in the gossip columns of the papers. The reason for this is that we can acquire many things, but if we do not love ourselves and know WHO WE TRULY ARE, happiness will continue to elude us.

Life is about letting, rather than getting. There is nothing wrong with acquiring beautiful things, but joy, happiness and fulfillment always arise from within, never from any external circumstances.

To begin to get to know the Real You, the You that the Universe intends you to be, the You that Universal Mind knows you to be, ask yourself these questions, “What are the things I love to do, that bring me joy and fill me with passion? What are the talents I am blessed with? What things come naturally to me? What skills have I developed that I enjoy sharing?”

When we frame our questions in the larger context of Divine life, the answers come easily. Questions such as, “How can I be Love right here and now? How can I express the great Joy of God here where I stand? How can I reflect the Divine Creativity at this moment?” These are questions of soul purpose. Using affirmations, meditation techniques and positive visualization, you can start living your life from a position of authenticity, power, and inspired creativity.

Breath Is Life

by Yogi Ramacharaka
Life is absolutely dependent upon the act of breathing. "Breath is Life."

Differ as they may upon details of theory and terminology, the Oriental and the Occidental agree upon these fundamental principles.

To breathe is to live, and without breath there is no life. Not only are the higher animals dependent upon breath for life and health, but even the lower forms of animal life must breathe to live, and plant life is likewise dependent upon the air for continued existence.

The infant draws in a long, deep breath, retains it for a moment to extract from it its life-giving properties, and then exhales it in a long wail, and lo! its life upon earth has begun. The old man gives a faint gasp, ceases to breathe, and life is over. From the first faint breath of the infant to the last gasp of the dying man, it is one long story of continued breathing. Life is but a series of breaths.

Breathing may be considered the most important of all of the functions of the body, for, indeed, all the other functions depend upon it. Man may exist some time without eating; a shorter time without drinking; but without breathing his existence may be measured by a few minutes.

And not only is Man dependent upon Breath for life, but he is largely dependent upon correct habits of breathing for continued vitality and freedom from disease. An intelligent control of our breathing power will lengthen our days upon earth by giving us increased vitality and powers of resistance, and, on the other hand, unintelligent and careless breathing will tend to shorten our days, by decreasing our vitality and laying us open to disease.

Man in his normal state had no need of instruction in breathing. Like the lower animal and the child, he breathed naturally and properly, as nature intended him to do, but civilization has changed him in this and other respects. He has contracted improper methods and attitudes of walking, standing and sitting, which have robbed him of his birthright of natural and correct breathing. He has paid a high price for civilization. The savage, to-day, breathes naturally, unless he has been contaminated by the habits of civilized man.

The percentage of civilized men who breathe correctly is quite small, and the result is shown in contracted chests and stooping shoulders, and the terrible increase in diseases of the respiratory organs, including that dread monster, Consumption, "the white scourge." Eminent authorities have stated that one generation of correct breathers would regenerate the race, and disease would be so rare as to be looked upon as a curiosity. Whether looked at from the standpoint of the Oriental or Occidental, the connection between correct breathing and health is readily seen and explained.

The Occidental teachings show that the physical health depends very materially upon correct breathing. The Oriental teachers not only admit that their Occidental brothers are right, but say that in addition to the physical benefit derived from correct habits of breathing, Man's mental power, happiness, self-control, clear-sightedness, morals, and even his spiritual growth may be increased by an understanding of the "Science of Breath." Whole schools of Oriental Philosophy have been founded upon this science, and this knowledge when grasped by the Western races, and by them put to the practical use which is their strong point, will work wonders among them. The theory of the East, wedded to the practice of the West, will produce worthy offspring.

The Yogic Science of Breath includes not only all that is known to the Western physiologist and hygienist, but the occult side of the subject as well. It not only points out the way to physical health along the lines of what Western scientists have termed "deep breathing," etc., but also goes into the less known phases of the subject, and shows how the Hindu Yogi controls his body, increasing his mental capacity, and develops the spiritual side of his nature by the "Science of Breath."

The Yogi practices exercises by which he attains control of his body, and is enabled to send to any organ or part an increased flow of vital force or "prana," thereby strengthening and invigorating the part or organ. He knows all that his Western scientific brother knows about the physiological effect of correct breathing, but he also knows that the air contains more than oxygen and hydrogen and nitrogen, and that something more is accomplished than the mere oxygenating of the blood. He knows something about "prana," of which his Western brother is ignorant, and he is fully aware of the nature and manner of handling that great principle of energy, and is fully informed as to its effect upon the human body and mind. He knows that by rhythmical breathing one may bring himself into harmonious vibration with nature, and aid in the unfoldment of his latent powers. He knows that by controlled breathing he may not only cure disease in himself and others, but also practically do away with fear and worry and the baser emotions.

We hope to awaken the minds of the Western world to the value of the Yogic "Science of Breath."

The Bliss of Pure Being

By Jafree Ozwald and Margot Zaher www.EnlightenedBeings.com
There is nothing you need to do, and there is nowhere you need to go to find what your soul is truly seeking. This bliss is who you are. It is what resides in the core of your being. When you get very quiet and go inward with infinite patience, you will eventually see this bliss has always been here waiting for you to arrive.

The eternal vast presence of peace and extreme joy is inside you.

Simply be in this world, yet not of it. Meaning do not be attached to this world, and the glorious bliss of pure Being will find you. It is so simple and effortless that you could easily run around your whole life seeking for it in the outer world and miss it. It is always available in this now moment within you. You can access it by surrendering your mind to a few minutes of silence. "Banish the ego and develop the spirit of surrender. You will then experience Bliss.”
~ Sri Sathya Sai Baba

So call of the search! Stop searching for bliss outside of yourself in the material world. Outer possessions, accomplishments, and experiences will never truly satisfy you. They are impermanent. They come and go like the weather. Your ego may experience a fleeting moment of happiness or joy, and yet only minutes later it starts demanding something else that it believes will make you "happy" again. The ego is addicted to entertainment. True happiness is found when you experience that which doesn't come or go. Simply redirect your attention towards what is permanent and eternal and enjoy! “If you want to reach a state of bliss, then go beyond your ego and the internal dialogue."
~ Deepak Chopra

So you may be asking yourself, "Why am I sometimes so unhappy if I am bliss itself?" Unhappiness comes from being over-identified with the grasping, needy, demanding, illusionary ego mind. Whenever you feel unhappy the ego is simply not getting what it "thinks" it wants from the outer world. This is simply because the ego mind cannot open the door to the Divine...because it is already open! This is the mystery of bliss, that is always here now. The ego gets hypnotized by the urge to find "something" that will make it happy. This is the main distraction to finding bliss and causes all sorts of crazy emotions like anger, frustration, sadness, fear, etc...

The bigger truth however is that even in these moments when your ego is unhappy, you can step back from it all and tap into the bliss of your innermost being. This bliss is who you truly are, and cannot be diluted or tainted by the unhappiness of the ego mind. The bliss of your being is here now, and always. "The bliss of the Creator forever permeates all of creation, and it is only in the forgetting that misery exists."
~Doreen Virtue

Aren't you tired yet of this perpetual search for bliss? The ego has been conducting this massive search for lifetimes, by now you must be ready for a break? The good news is that you can stop the suffering right now and discover this bliss inside. You never have to do anything again to experience the bliss of your being. This "Beingness" is simply blissful in its nature. All you need to do is allow yourself to surrender to who and what you truly are, beneath all these thoughts and experiences. If this is too challenging, here are two paths to tap into the bliss of your being everyday!

"The mind obtains bliss and eternal peace meeting with the Divine.”
~ Sri Guru Granth Sahib

1.    Daily Meditation. The most fulfilling journey you will ever take is inside of yourself via the path of meditation. Meditating is simply the fine art of watching your thoughts without getting caught up in any stories that the ego is creating. As you continue to be the watcher of your thoughts, something truly amazing will happen. These thoughts slow down and begin to lose their power. You start to see how silly these thoughts and stories truly are. Your mind becomes quieter and quieter. As peace descends upon you, a new feeling emerges, a simple blissfulness that has no rhythm or reason. It simple exists. This is the bliss of your being, the bliss of consciousness itself.

2. Consciously Living in the "Now". When you consciously choose to live in the now, you naturally experience this pure bliss of being. In the "Now", the stories of the ego fall away and are replaced by the beauty of this moment. Look closely at this moment, and notice that you can experience pure bliss if you remain solely here now. One easy way to fall deeper into the present moment is to focus on what your senses are experiencing in the "Now" moment. Become aware of what you are seeing, feeling, hearing, smelling, and touching. Attuning to your senses focuses your attention on the Divinity that is here. When you are fully present to each activity that you engage in, there is a certain alertness that occurs, and all thought naturally drops away, leaving you with this state of blissful being.

Take Your Place As Worthy Galactic Beings

Message from SaLuSa for 23 May 2011
As might be expected prophesies come and go, and you will find that periodically certain groups will feel that they have been guided to one that supports their beliefs. You may wonder how it comes about, and in many instances it is the result of energy given to an event of a religious significance. It can go back hundreds if not thousands of years, gradually becoming so powerful that it will impinge upon the consciousness of its followers who bring it to a conclusion. The factor that results in a non-event is more likely to be because times have changed, along with the levels of consciousness and the Light has become the pacifier. As a result the prediction no longer carries forward and it does not manifest. In other words it is no longer necessary to bring in the changes that were expected, as Humanity has moved on to a new paradigm. The Apocalypse will not therefore take place as expected although there will still be many Earth changes, but no longer associated with mass death and destruction.

If possible, people should concentrate on the positive aspects of the changes, and as we so often recommend to keep their vision of the New Earth in focus. These times will be confusing to many souls who are not quite sure what to expect, and events are not helped by the activities of the dark Ones. They have planned to stage events that parallel the predictions, so fulfilling people’s expectations that would of course fuel the “fear” factor. We are aware of such intentions and within certain limits because of karmic situations, can prevent them from taking place. We have prevented a Third World War, destruction of the Earth, and plagues and diseases of proportions that would have decimated your population. That has been in accordance with our responsibilities to ensure that you safely reach the point of Ascension, and that the opportunity to ascend is not denied you.

It might not appear to be so, but you are rising up from the lower vibrations and as you do the degree of dark activities will lessen, as the Light is weakening their power. With steps being taken to get our allies into positions of authority, through them we also have more influence as to what is occurring. All in all, we progress to our goals to make the big changes that will see the dark Ones removedSo, be assured that even if you do not have the details, we are achieving our aims to get matters really moving along. When it commences, there cannot be any other outcome, as the Divine Plan will manifest regardless of any outer happenings. It is why we occasionally remind you that the Light has already achieved the victory that you have been promised. There is absolutely no reason to be fearful, and whatever you planned for yourself to go through the end–times, will come to be.

We keep you looking straight ahead, as there will come a time when the past will have little influence over you. Once you have ascended and your consciousness levels greatly expanded, you will in effect disconnect from memories of being in the lower vibrations. They will no longer be of importance, but nevertheless the experience you gained will always be with you. You are forever on a spiritual journey finding your way back to the Source, and that applies to all souls with no exception. So you can see that wherever you meet other souls, you will have a lot in common and not least of all that you originally came from the Source. You chose to experience separation from it and take on the challenge of recovering your Light, and levels of consciousness that would restore your subconscious memories of your true Self. That has been achieved by many of you, and it was that success that enabled more time to be granted for as many souls as possible to ascend. Otherwise, you may not have been here at this time, but have completed your journeys with the coming of the Millennium.

So Dear Ones, you can understand the admiration and love that goes out to you from the higher dimensions, as your success has only been achieved by your dedication and strong intent to overcome all obstacles. You are truly magnificent Beings, and in the near future you will stand alongside of us as fully conscious Beings. Whatever your earthly experiences do not belittle your selves, as the very reason for being on Earth was to drop into the lower vibrations. What you have learnt from them is the most important factor, and not how it was achieved as you will all have experienced the pull of the dark energies. How else would you learn how to handle them, and fully understand how to overcome them? You are not labeled as sinners as some would have you believe, and life on Earth was meant for living and to choose whatever experiences advanced your understanding and led you back to the Light.

You have all had so many lives in duality it is understandable that you now feel it is time for change. For many souls there is not much more you can learn from it, and having re-established a strong link with the Light are ready to rise up. It has been building up to this time for many centuries, and great Beings have walked the Earth to help you understand the truth of your Divinity. Their teachings might have been distorted, but that makes it even more remarkable that you have still found your Light. Love is the keyword to your advancement, whether you receive it or give it out, and when you can reach a point of being able to give without conditions, you are truly One with the Christ Consciousness. We talk of Unconditional Love, and that means giving without judgment and desiring nothing back for doing so. Humans have a tendency to hold a mindset that places conditions for the giving of Love, and that is one lesson to learn as you enter the last period leading to AscensionSimply do your best and you will find it will become easier to think that way, and it will come with the increases in your consciousness levels.

I am SaLuSa from Sirius and trust that with our messages, you have gradually acquired a better understanding of what the Galactic Federation represents. We are you and from your future and you will easily move from your present way of life, to one that will eventually see you take your place as worthy Galactic Beings. We see these times as extremely exciting, at the prospect of inviting you back to where you really belong – as Starseeds.

Thank you SaLuSa.

Mike Quinsey.

Hoʻoponopono

 From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hoʻoponopono is an ancient Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and forgiveness. Similar forgiveness practices were performed on islands throughout the South Pacific, including Samoa, Tahiti and New Zealand. Traditionally Hoʻoponopono is practiced by healing priests or kahuna lapaʻau among family members of a person who is physically ill. Modern versions are performed within the family by a family elder, or by the individual alone.

Polynesian antecedents
In many Polynesian cultures it is believed that a person’s errors (called hara or hala) caused illness. Some believe error angers the Gods, others that it attracts malevolent Gods, and still others believe the guilt caused by error made one sick. “In most cases, however, specific ‘untie-error’ rites could be performed to atone for such errors and thereby diminish one’s accumulation of them.”

Among the islands of Vanuatu in the South Pacific, people believe that illness usually is caused by sexual misconduct or anger. “If you are angry for two or three days, sickness will come,” said one local man. The therapy that counters this sickness is confession. The patient, or a family member, may confess. If no one confesses an error, the patient may die. The Vanuatu people believe that secrecy is what gives power to the illness. When the error is confessed, it no longer has power over the person.

Like many other islanders, including Hawaiians, people of Tikopia in the Solomon Islands, and on Rarotonga in the Cook Islands, believe that the sins of the father will fall upon the children. If a child is sick, the parents are suspected of quarreling or misconduct. In addition to sickness, social disorder could cause sterility of land or other disasters. Harmony could be restored only by confession and apology.

In Pukapuka, it was customary to hold sort of a confessional over patients to determine an appropriate course of action in order to heal them.

Similar traditions are found in Samoa, Tahitiand among the Maori of New Zealand.

Traditional practice
“Hoʻoponopono” is defined in the Hawaiian Dictionary as “mental cleansing: family conferences in which relationships were set right through prayer, discussion, confession, repentance, and mutual restitution and forgiveness. Literally, hoʻo  is a particle used to make an actualizing verb from the following noun, as would “to” before a noun in English. Here, it creates a verb from the noun pono, which is defined as “goodness, uprightness, morality, moral qualities, correct or proper procedure, excellence, well-being, prosperity, welfare, benefit, true condition or nature, duty; moral, fitting, proper, righteous, right, upright, just, virtuous, fair, beneficial, successful, in perfect order, accurate, correct, eased, relieved; should, ought, must, necessary.”

Ponopono is defined as “to put to rights; to put in order or shape, correct, revise, adjust, amend, regulate, arrange, rectify, tidy up, make orderly or neat.”

Preeminent Hawaiian scholar Mary Kawena Pukui wrote that it was a practice in Ancient Hawaii and this is supported by oral histories from contemporary Hawaiian elders. Pukui first recorded her experiences and observations from her childhood (born 1895) in her 1958 book. Author Max Freedom Long, who lived in Hawaii from 1917 to about 1926, documented traditional Hoʻoponopono as used by Hawaiian families in his 1936 book.

Although the word “Hoʻoponopono” was not used, early Hawaiian historians documented a belief that illness was caused by breaking spiritual laws, and that the illness could not be cured until the sufferer atoned for this transgression, often with the assistance of a praying priest or healing priest. Forgiveness was sought from the gods or from the person with whom there was a dispute.

Pukui described it as a practice of extended family members meeting to “make right” broken family relations. Some families met daily or weekly, to prevent problems from erupting. Others met when a person became ill, believing that illness was caused by the stress of anger, guilt, recriminations and lack of forgiveness. Kupuna Nana Veary wrote that when any of the children in her family fell ill, her grandmother would ask the parents, "What have you done?" They believed that healing could come only with complete forgiveness of the whole family.

Hoʻoponopono corrects, restores and maintains good relationships among family members and with their gods or God by getting to the causes and sources of trouble. Usually the most senior member of the family conducts it. He or she gathers the family together. If the family is unable to work through a problem, they turn to a respected outsider.

The process begins with prayer. A statement of the problem is made, and the transgression discussed. Family members are expected to work problems through and cooperate, not “hold fast to the fault.” One or more periods of silence may be taken for reflection on the entanglement of emotions and injuries. Everyone’s feelings are acknowledged. Then confession, repentance and forgiveness take place. Everyone releases each other, letting go. They cut off the past and together they close the event with a ceremonial feast, which often included eating limu kala or kala seaweed, symbolic of the release.

In a form used by the family of kahuna Makaweliweli of the island of Molokaʻi, the completion of Hoʻoponopono is represented by giving the person forgiven a Lei made from the fruit of the hala tree.

“Aunty” Malia Craver, who worked with the Queen Liliʻuokalani Children's Centers (QLCC) for more than 30 years, taught courses in traditional Hoʻoponopono. On August 30, 2000, she spoke about it to the United Nations.

Modern uses

Traditional applications
In the late 20th century, courts in Hawaii began to order juvenile and adult offenders to work with an elder who would conduct Hoʻoponopono for their families, as a form of alternative dispute resolution. The Hoʻoponopono is conducted in the traditional way, without court interference, with a practitioner picked by the family from a list of court-approved providers.

Some native practitioners provide Hoʻoponopono to clients who otherwise might seek family counseling.

Freedom from Karma
In 1976 Morrnah Simeona, regarded as a healing priest, adapted the traditional Hoʻoponopono of family mutual forgiveness to the social realities of the modern day. For this she extended it both to a general problem solving process outside the family and to a psycho-spiritual self-help rather than group process.

Simeona’s version is influenced by her Christian (Protestant and Catholic) education and her philosophical studies about India, China and Edgar Cayce. Like Hawaiian tradition she emphasizes prayer. Unlike Hawaiian tradition, she describes problems as the effects of negative Karma, saying that “you have to experience by yourself what you have done to others,” and you are the creator of your life circumstances. Any wrong doing is memorized within oneself and mirrored in every entity and object which was present when the cause happened. As the Law of Cause and Effect predominates in all of life and lifetimes, the purpose of her version is mainly “to release unhappy, negative experiences in past Reincarnations, and to resolve and remove traumas from the ‘memory banks’.” Karmic bondages hinder the evolution of mind, so that “(karmic) cleansing is a requisite for the expansion of awareness.” Using her 14-step-process would dissolve those bondages. She did not use mantras or conditioning exercises.

Her teachings include: there is a Divine Creator who takes care of altruistic pleas of Men; “when the phrase ‘And it is done’ is used after a prayer, it means Man’s work ends and God’s begins.”  ‘Self-Identity’ signifies, e.g. during the Hoʻoponopono, that the 3 selves or aspects of consciousness are balanced and connected with the Divine Creator. Different from egoistic prayers “altruistic prayers like Hoʻoponopono, where you also pray for the release of other entities and objects, reach the Divine plane or Cosmos because of their high vibrations. From that plane the Divine energy or Mana would come,” which would transform the painful part of the memory of the wrong actions in all participants to Pure Light, on whatever plane they are existing; “all are set free.” Through this transmutation in the mind the problems will lose their energy for physical effects, and healing or balancing is begun. In this sense, Simeona’s Mana is not the same as the traditional Polynesian understanding of Mana.

Creating state of Zero
After Simeona's passing in 1992, her former student and administrator Ihalekala Hew Len, co-authored a book with Joe Vitale called “Zero Limits” referring to Simeona's Hoʻoponopono teachings. Len makes no claim to be a kahuna. In contrast to Simeona's teachings, the book says that the main objective of Hoʻoponopono is getting to “the state of Zero, where we would have zero limits. No memories. No identity.” To reach this state, called 'Self-I-Dentity', one has to repeat constantly the mantra, “I'm sorry. Please forgive me. I love you. Thank you.”

It is based on the principle of 100% responsibility, taking responsibility for everyone's actions, not only for one's own. If one would take complete responsibility for one's life, then everything one sees, hears, tastes, touches, or in any way experiences would be one's responsibility because it is in one's life. The problem would not be with our external reality, it would be with ourselves. To change our reality, we would have to change ourselves. Total Responsibility, according to Hew Len, advocates that everything exists as a projection from inside the human being. As such, it is similar to the philosophy of Solipsism, but differs in that it doesn't deny the reality of the consciousness of others. Instead it views all consciousness as part of the whole, so any error that a person clears in their own consciousness is cleared for everyone. This idea of an individual having the ability to benefit the whole indirectly can be seen in the theory of the Hundreth monkey effect.
